Former President Donald Trump tagged Iowa GOP Governor Kim Reynolds as the most unpopular governor in the entire United States.

Trump, in a video posted by his campaign, slammed Governor Reynolds after she endorsed his GOP presidential rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for 2024. The former president suggested that Reynolds’ decision to back DeSantis despite his low position in the polls came because she was promised a position.

“Kim Reynolds of Iowa has gone from a popular governor to the most unpopular governor in the entire United States of America,” Trump said. “Not an easy feat. Her endorsement of Ron DeSanctimonious, who is 50 points down to me in the polls, has given him exactly zero bounce. He’s a wounded bird falling violently from the sky. I wonder what position Kim was promised in order to back someone who is so far down in the polls. I got Iowa, first in the nation, ethanol security, and $28 billion for our great farmers in Iowa and Nebraska and Wisconsin, and many other farming areas of our country. $28 billion for the farmers. I also protected Social Security and Medicare; DeSanctimonious and Nikki Haley did absolutely nothing. Make America Great Again.”

Earlier this month, Reynolds announced she is throwing her support behind the Florida governor in the 2024 race. Reynolds told NBC’s “Nightly News” that she endorsed DeSantis for president because she believes Trump can’t win in the general election

“I believe he (Trump) can’t win and I believe that Ron can,” Reynolds said. “I don’t base my decision on polls. I take a look at who I believe is the right person for the right job. I believe that Ron is the right person for the right job. and I believe he’s going to win.”

The Iowa governor said she made the decision because she couldn’t wait on the sideline anymore. Reynolds’ DeSantis endorsement broke a long-standing Iowa tradition of staying neutral.
“I just felt like I couldn’t sit on the sidelines any longer. We have too much at stake,” Reynolds added.
