Police in Colorado have placed Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) under an active investigation following an alleged physical altercation with her ex-husband.

According to the Daily Beast, Boebert is the subject of an investigation into “an alleged physical altercation with her ex-husband which occurred at a restaurant in the GOP lawmaker’s district.

Reports on The Daily Wire revealed the lawmaker’s ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, called the police claiming he had been a victim of domestic violence. Jayson also alleged that the lawmaker punched him several times.

Jayson, however, told The Denver Post in a short phone interview that he does not want to press charges against his ex-wife.

“I don’t want nothing to happen,” Jayson Boebert said. “Her and I were working through a difficult conversation.”

Mike Kite, Chief of the Silt Police Department told CBS News that an active investigation was underway. Kite revealed that his department will release its report on the incident once the investigation is completed.

“We have a lot of facts and stuff to get sorted out,” Kite said.

Kite also revealed that police have requested video footage from the restaurant and that no one has been arrested.

The GOP lawmaker, however, denied the allegation in a statement she gave to The Washington Post. The congresswoman threatened legal action against her ex-husband.

“This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason why I’m moving,” she said. “I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested. I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options.”

The couple has a long history of being on the wrong side of the law. In 2004, Jayson pleaded guilty to public indecency and lewd exposure after exposing himself to two minors in a bowling alley. Jayson had another encounter with the law after neighbors complained about children riding a dune buggy too fast through the neighborhood. However, no arrest was made in connection to the incident.

According to the Denver Post, Lauren Boeber was arrested at least four times before becoming a lawmaker in 2021.
