In what is a significant boost to former President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) gave her endorsement to the former president as he seeks to win back the presidency next year.

The Alabama lawmaker announced her endorsement in an op-ed published Wednesday on Yellowhammer just before the GOP presidential debate began. Britt noted that Trump is the only candidate who has proven he is “more than up for the job.” She added that the former president will achieve peace through strength and secure America’s border.

“And that’s why President Donald Trump has my endorsement to be our 47th President,” Britt said. “He secured our southern border. He cut taxes and slashed burdensome regulations. He expanded access to a high-quality education. He stood up for our incredible farmers and cattlemen. He battled for fair trade and held Communist China accountable. He onshored good-paying jobs and began rebuilding critical domestic supply chains and industries. He unleashed American energy dominance. He defended religious liberty. He combatted the opioid epidemic. He made our communities safer. He rebuilt our military, bolstered our readiness, and modernized our capabilities. He fought for our veterans. And he achieved peace through strength – no wars were started under his watch for a reason. Our adversaries feared America and our allies were protected. He obliterated ISIS, signed the Abraham Accords, kept Putin’s aggression at bay, stared down Kim Jong Un, and squeezed Iran dry.”

Britt’s endorsement follows a host of other GOP heavyweights that have thrown their full support behind the former president. Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott endorsed the former president in November. Abbott said he was endorsing Trump because the country needs a president that will protect the border and restore law and order.

“We need a president who is going to secure the border,” Abbott said. “We need a president who is going to restore law and order in the United States of America, not letting these criminals run ransack over the stores that you see images of almost nightly.”

Arkansas GOP. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, House Speaker Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem and Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) have all thrown their support behind the former president.
