SUBPOENAS Over MENTAL FITNESS?

Three senior White House aides have been subpoenaed by the GOP-led House Oversight Committee, which is requesting that they appear for depositions about President Biden’s mental health.

According to Fox News, the subpoena also names the top aides to First Lady Jill Biden, Anthony Bernal, the deputy chief of staff Annie Tomasini, and senior adviser Ashley Williams.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., demanded accountability within the White House in a news statement.

“The White House has shielded three key aides from testifying about President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, and now we’ve learned through reporting these same aides are also seeking to cover up President Biden’s declining cognitive state inside the White House,” Comer stated.

“President Biden is clearly unfit for office, yet his staff are trying to hide the truth from the American people,” he stated. The top Biden aides, according to the GOP-led committee, were “running interference” for Biden in order to protect the 81-year-old president from being questioned.

Axios originally revealed that Bernal, Tomasini, and Williams have formed “a protective bubble around” Biden and that he is “staffed so closely that he’s lost all independence,” citing a former Biden staff member. The goal of the subpoenas, which were issued in response to Biden’s abject performance in the debate two weeks ago, is to determine the extent of the three aides’ duties during their time working for the administration. The committee is concerned that top aides are managing the nation while the president is unable to do so, and this is expressed in the three subpoenas that were issued on Wednesday.

“To be clear, the American people did not elect Ms. Williams or any White House staffer to do President Biden’s job for him, and the Committee seeks Ms. Williams’s testimony regarding the matters identified above,” the subpoena says in part. The committee also claimed that Williams, Bernal, and Tomasini—three of Biden’s senior aides—were complicit in the scandal surrounding the president’s purported mishandling of secret documents.

A total of five White House staffers and one employee of the Department of Defense, according to the Oversight Committee, were involved in “coordinating the organizing, moving, and removing of boxes that were later found to contain classified materials.”

Robert Hur, Special Counsel, wrapped up his inquiry into Biden’s unlawful retention of sensitive records in February of last year.
