Fox News host Sandra Smith engaged in a heated exchange with Democratic strategist Kelly Hyman on Monday regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ economic plan. During a Sunday fundraiser in New York, Harris promised to deliver a speech on economic policy this week, as reported by the Associated Press. Smith, guest-hosting “Your World,” pressed Hyman for specifics about Harris’ proposals.

“From the beginning of the Biden-Harris administration, energy prices are up 32%. Shelter costs, including homes and rents, are up 23%. Auto insurance has increased by 56%, and electricity is up 27. If you’re living on a fixed income, it is brutal right now. So the question is, what is her economic plan to bring these prices down?” Smith asked. She contrasted this with Trump, who has been vocal about his plans.

Hyman attempted to shift the conversation to Trump’s support for tariffs, speaking over Smith. “Let’s talk about Trump’s plan. Trump’s plan is to have tariffs, and economists have said that harms consumers and small businesses,” she argued.

“It seems like you’re talking about Trump a lot,” Smith replied. “What is Harris’ plan? We’re waiting.”

Hyman referenced Harris’ proposal to empower the Federal Trade Commission to impose “harsh penalties” for price gouging, which she introduced during an August 16 speech on economic policy. However, Hyman struggled to provide details, prompting Smith to note that Hyman was “having a hard time” discussing Harris’ proposals.

“That’s not true,” Hyman responded. “I’m constantly being interrupted by you, which as a woman I think is disrespectful. Every time I try to speak, you speak over me.”

Smith maintained that she had given Hyman ample time to explain Harris’ policy, leading Hyman to conclude, “Thank you so much for having me.”
