After facing claims of unpaid rent totaling over $42,000, actress Jaime King has addressed the situation surrounding her Los Angeles residence.

Speaking to Us Weekly, the actress responded to the controversy, stating, “The situation with my landlord was resolved privately. It’s disappointing — but not surprising — to see someone try to exploit this moment for attention. I am currently focused on what matters most: my children.”

The “Hart of Dixie” actress had been residing in a Hollywood Hills property since April 2023, with monthly rent payments of $10,145. According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, King ceased making payments in January, accumulating significant arrears.

The property owner reportedly took action by restricting King’s access to the residence until payment was received, claiming the actress was deliberately remaining in the property without paying rent. However, King’s legal representative contested these claims, stating that the actress was actively pursuing acting opportunities to address the outstanding payments.

This rental dispute comes amid other personal challenges for King. Recently, she experienced a significant setback in her custody arrangement with former spouse Kyle Newman regarding their two sons. While both parents maintain shared legal custody, Newman has been granted sole physical custody of the children.

Under the new arrangement, King’s access to her children is limited to three supervised visits weekly. The court has also mandated that she complete a six-month rehabilitation program addressing substance use issues.

The custody modification followed King’s failure to fulfill previous court requirements, which included regular substance testing, parenting classes, and counseling sessions with her children.

The custody dispute intensified in October 2024 when Newman pursued sole custody, citing concerns about King’s alleged substance use while caring for their sons. The former couple’s legal battles began with their divorce filing in 2020, concluding in 2023 after 13 years of marriage.
