Republicans are strongly opposing the Department of Energy’s latest decision to maintain restrictions on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, claiming the move is driven by political motives and violates legal boundaries. The Energy and Commerce Committee members went further in their criticism, suggesting that the Biden administration is deliberately expediting a new environmental impact study focused on climate considerations. They argue this rushed approach is strategically designed to create obstacles for the next administration’s ability to efficiently process applications for LNG exports.
