House Republicans leading an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden sent criminal referrals to the Justice Department on Wednesday regarding Hunter Biden’s testimony before Congress.

The referral recommended Hunter and his uncle, James Biden, be charged with making false statements to Congress.

The alleged false statements are related to Biden’s involvement in the family’s business dealings and influence-peddling schemes.

The referral was signed by Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY), Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R-MO) and addressed to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and special counsel David Weiss.

The referrals claim that Hunter lied about his role in Rosemont Seneca Bohai and his communications with Chinese officials, while James falsely denied Biden’s involvement in the family’s business.

Meanwhile, documents released reveal a corporate resolution signed by Hunter as the acting Secretary of Rosemont Seneca Bohai, LLC.

The referral also accused Hunter of making up a claim by saying he’d sent threatening text messages meant for a Chinese business partner to the wrong person. The committee said the texts went to the intended recipient.

According to Breitbart News, GOP investigators have revealed that Biden received money from both James and Hunter. They also showed that nine additional family members, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren, received payments from the family’s foreign business ventures.

The criminal referral for the president’s brother stems from his alleged testimony that Biden didn’t meet with one of Hunter’s business partners, Tony Bobulinski, in 2017. However, republicans claimed that James’ testimony was contradicted by Bobulinski, who insisted that the meeting occurred.

“The nature of these false statements is not lost on the Committees, every instance implicates Joe Biden’s knowledge of and role in his family’s influence peddling,” Comer, Jordan and Smith wrote in the referral.

The House GOP also claimed that James’ alleged false testimony was part of a conscious and calculated effort to protect Biden from the authorized impeachment inquiry.

The referrals come amid Hunter’s ongoing trial over gun charges brought in by Weiss in a federal court in Delaware. The trial, which began on Monday, has seen prosecutors officially confirm that the infamous laptop belonged to the first son.
