Harris Presidency Would WELCOME ILLEGAL Immigrants
Vice President Kamala Harris is gaining support from the Democratic establishment in her bid to unseat President Joe Biden as the party’s presidential nominee. It’s wonderful news for illegal immigrants that Biden, former President Bill Clinton, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), former First Lady Hillary Clinton, and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) have all endorsed Harris for president.
With Harris acting as the border czar for the Biden administration, the southern border is already a source of concern. But if Harris wins the presidency, the problem will probably worsen significantly.
On many issues, including immigration, Harris agrees with Biden. Supporter of “Medicare for all,” Harris advocated for free, taxpayer-funded healthcare for undocumented immigrants during her 2020 presidential campaign. In contrast, Biden advocated for allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain unsubsidized public health insurance. Though these are terrible proposals, Biden at least disagreed with providing free health care plans to undocumented immigrants.
Biden disagrees with Harris’s plan to decriminalize illegal border crossings, which she ran on. In 2015, Harris stated, “An undocumented immigrant is not a criminal,” while serving as the attorney general of California.
Therefore, Harris supported both increasing government assistance to illegal immigrants and changing the criminal code to exclusively punish those who enter the nation unlawfully, rather than breaking the law.
Harris made the comparison between the Ku Klux Klan and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), arguing that ICE instills fear in Latin Americans in the same manner that the KKK did in African Americans.
“Are you aware that there is a perception among immigrants, and especially among those coming from Mexico and Central America, that ICE is abusing its authority in a way that incites fear and intimidation?” Harris stated in November of 2018.
Never mind that ICE deports killers and rapists of minors from the country. Eliminating the worst criminals who are in the United States illegally is its top aim. ICE is not adamant about holding and expelling every person who picks strawberries illegally and has a spotless background.
But if Harris believes that entering the nation illegally is not a crime, then one has to ask whether ICE under Harris would remove violent criminals with extensive criminal histories from other nations before they commit crimes here.
Harris has also backed the idea of sanctuary cities since at least 2006, even if the Biden administration is currently on the fence about it. Sanctuary cities are a draw for illegal immigrants because they refuse to work with federal law enforcement, making it more difficult to deport criminal illegal immigrants. This is similar to government handouts and lessening the legal consequences connected with crossing the border illegally.
Approximately 2 million “gotaways” have crossed our borders under the Biden administration with Border Patrol officers detaining individuals from 180 different nations. Criminals and people from all over the world are taking advantage of our porous borders. Just consider how much worse things may get under a president like Harris, who is even more extremist.
