Governor Chris Sununu (R-NH) stated on Sunday during CNN’s “State of the Union” that “almost any other Republican” besides former President Donald Trump would win the presidential race by a 10-point margin.
The GOP governor made the claim in response to a comment made by former Republican presidential nominee Nikki Haley on the November race.
“One thing Republicans have to stop, quit whining about her. The campaign is not going to win talking about crowd sizes. It’s not going to win talking about what race Kamala Harris is. It’s not going to win talking about whether she’s dumb. It’s not. You can’t win on those things,” Halley said.
Trump, however, dismissed Haley’s claim, telling a crowd that he has no respect for her. CNN host Jake Tapper asked Sununu whether Halley was right to make those comments about the former president.
“Well, it isn’t Donald Trump in this case. Look, as Nikki probably wouldn’t point this out because she was the alternative, but almost any other Republican candidate would be winning this race by ten points,” Sununu told Tapper. “And so the message is very clear, if you stick to the issues, if you stick to what matters, this should be an easy grace for Donald Trump. It really should the delta that you’re seeing right now is Trump does better with males by about ten points. But where this giant shifted August has come is with the female voters, Frank Luntz pointed this out in his polling. He’s down 10 to 12 points, at least with females. They’re going to come out in much bigger numbers than they previously would have if Biden were the candidate.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) agreed with Sununu Halley during a Sunday appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Graham insisted that Trump could lose the November election to Harris if he made personal attacks the center of his campaign.

“Yeah. I don’t think — I don’t look at Vice President Kamala Harris as a lunatic. I look at her as the most liberal person to ever be nominated for president in the history of the United States,” Graham said. “She’s going to the Soviet Union playbook to lower prices called price control. She wants to eliminate private health care. She’s for reparations. She’s against fracking. She’s with the Green New Deal on and on. So, I would make it about policy. A nightmare for Harris is to defend her policy choices. President Trump can win this election. His policies are good for America. If you have a policy debate, he wins. Donald Trump the provocateur, the showman, may not win this election.”
