Harris Claims UNDOCUMENTED Immigration NOT Criminal
The Democrats’ front-runner for president in 2024, Kamala Harris, has stated time and again that “an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal.”
The Republican National Committee emphasized the several claims made by Harris during her days as a California political candidate. “What she’s ultimately saying is that illegal immigration is not a crime … but the statute says it is a crime, so she’s wrong,” responded Jon Feere, a former top official in President Donald Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
According to Feere, illegal migrants also break other non-immigration rules. “Your typical non-violent illegal alien worker is doing all kinds of crimes.” He remarked, “Your typical ‘undocumented worker’ is involved in identity theft, tax evasion, social security fraud, and a host of other crimes that cause actual victims.”
In response, Feere said, “A worker without documentation is a lawbreaker, plain and simple.”
Harris, a lawyer, might be making the case that an undocumented immigrant isn’t a criminal unless they’ve been found guilty of a crime.
Feere enquired, “What does it mean to be a criminal? Is the individual who robs a bank at gunpoint, holds up the bank, and flees the scene a criminal?”
However, the term “criminal” as defined by the dictionary includes both those who have committed crimes and those who have been found guilty of them.
“Do illegal immigrants break the law or not? Yes, and it is the responsibility of the Executive Branch to hold them responsible for breaking the law,” Feere added.
“She is stating that she prefers not to carry out the Executive Branch’s law enforcement duties, which begs the question, why should she be in the Executive Branch in the first place? She seems to be saying that she won’t uphold the laws that the people of the United States enacted through our democracy and their elected officials. It indicates that she has disregarded a significant portion of federal law, which raises the question of whether our system of government can tolerate someone with her radical views.”
According to Feere, the federal government already declines to uphold the border laws passed by Congress.
The Department of Homeland Security secretary has declared that he will not uphold specific laws. There has never been a significant rise in illegal immigration in human history as a result of our President’s decision to mostly ignore border law violations.
The staff of President Joe Biden has welcomed approximately 10 million immigrants, both legal and undocumented, since 2021. Approximately one immigrant is brought in for each American-born.
This large population depresses salaries, takes corporate investment away from productivity at work, and raises mortgage rates and housing costs, all of which negatively impact average Americans.
According to Feere, “the president’s sole responsibility is to carry out federal laws” that Congress has passed. “This clearly isn’t the right job for her if she’s announcing now that she has no intention to do that.”
