John Bordieri, the “Calamari Comeback” chef who went viral after being featured at the 2020 Democratic National Convention (DNC), has announced that he will be voting for former president Donald Trump in the presidential election.
Bordieri told Fox and Friends co-host Carley Shimkus that he believes Trump’s business background is what the country needs to create jobs, keep prices low and boost the economy.
“He’s a businessman, and I think we need a businessman that can run the U.S. like a business and to help the people who live here create jobs, keep lower prices and see the whole bottom line work out for everybody,” Bordieri said.

Bordieri says the economy is his top concern, citing home prices, high interest rates and inflationary pressures on businesses. He expressed concern for young people, saying that over-inflated prices and high interest rates will crush them.
“I feel for the kids of my son’s age and stuff like that who want to buy a home right now. They’re going to pay for these overinflated prices, have high interest rates and it’s going to crush them,” Bordieri said. “You see the prices going up on a weekly basis, sometimes a daily basis. You know, everything fluctuates, especially the commodities and stuff like the seafood and the dairy products and the stuff,”
In 2020, Bordieri publicly announced his support for President Joe Biden in a video featured by the DNC. According to Fox News, Bordieri now insists Trump is the man for the job and plans to vote Republican in November.
“I just always believed business is business. And politicians? I don’t know… I don’t wanna diss them or anything, but, you know, you always hear that they’re going to make up stories, and they’re going to help you, and they’re going to do this here, and they’re going to do that for you,” he said. “I think Donald Trump did an awful lot while he was in office, the four years that he was here.”
