Donald Trump has communicated through Qatar his expectation to secure the release of all 100 remaining Israeli hostages before his inauguration in January 2025, according to Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Qatar, which maintains ties with Hamas and has historically supported both Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, serves as a key intermediary in negotiations.

“Such a statement is expected, and we hope that it will work and will be delivered to both parties,” the Qatari premier says.

Trump’s earlier statement warned of “ALL HELL TO PAY” should the hostages remain in captivity past his inauguration date, though he made no mention of ceasefire conditions.

Demonstrating his commitment to resolving the hostage situation, Trump has appointed Adam Boehler, a former Abraham Accords negotiator, as Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs with ambassadorial rank.

Meanwhile, Egypt has drafted a new ceasefire proposal that differs from previous plans, suggesting a gradual release of hostages rather than an all-at-once approach. The initial phase would involve fewer than the 33 hostages proposed in earlier negotiations.

Israeli officials haven’t dismissed the Egyptian proposal and plan to send representatives to Cairo for discussions next week, while Hamas continues its efforts to leverage Trump’s influence to pressure Israel into ending military operations.
